Dave's Journey
Dave's journey is rooted in his service as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army. After facing physical challenges that would end his military career, he was preparing to leave in the fall of 2001. But after the events of September 11, Dave was “volentold” to stay on and became a U.S. government official, serving for over 20 years, including a senior role at the Pentagon. He retired in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience that has shaped his role at Huntress Haven.
Dave’s dream was always to live in Vermont, and when Miken arrived, she shared that same feeling. Together, they created a life rooted in their shared passion for the land and a commitment to sustainability. With Dave’s leadership and vision, Huntress Haven is a place for adventure and connection, where visitors can experience the beauty of farm life, learn about their food, and create lasting memories.

Miken's Background
Miken's roots run deep in Wyoming and Montana, where her family has lived for seven generations. She spent 22 years as a STEM educator, recognized as one of the leading teachers in the field. But one day, Miken realized she wasn’t where she was meant to be, so she left teaching to pursue a new path. That journey led her to Washington, D.C., where she met Dave and began a new chapter in life that would eventually lead them both to Vermont.
When Miken stepped onto the land in Vermont, she knew immediately that this was home. Her transition from teaching to farming was unexpected but fulfilling. Embracing a lifestyle of sustainability and passion for the land, Miken’s love for hunting and farming is reflected in everything we do at Huntress Haven—from the experiences we offer to the products we grow. This farm is a place where Miken’s commitment to meaningful, hands-on experiences shines through in every activity and interaction.
